Well, it's time.

In slightly less than 24 hrs Jan and I get to finally meet face to face. We met here on NASCARMATCH back in May. Just before my son and I went to Eldora for the Dream. Between the phone, text messages and e mail, we have shared a lot of moments and a lot about ourselves. However, all this electronic communication detracts from a good old fashioned conversation and sharing time between friends. I look forward to getting to know her better and her, me. We'll be picking up my 9 yr old son from school Fri AM and taking the hour and a half ride up to the track.

Bristol - soon

Yes, I am very much looking forward to the Bristol Weekend. I skipped last years Aug race because my son had a race the following weekend in Hunstville AL and we had to watch the travel budget. This year Britol will be different for me because I get to take a friend along who has not yet experienced a race at BMS. Who knows, maybe it will be a NASCARMATCH cinderella story. We'll keep ya posted. Less than 2 weeks!

6 hour bike ride to Cleveland TN

Got up Sat AM and decided to take the bike for a ride for the weekend. Where to? Where else! A race! Headed off though the beautiful mountains of WNC to south east TN for a good old Super Late Model dirt track. .4 mile Cleveland TN. Very hot and muggy but the track was in great shape. Who else but Jimmy Owens, The Newport Nightmare with the win! I have some video loaded too. Check it out!

Bristol tonight

Just got home from a 150 lap late model race at Bristol. They put on a pretty good show with a lot of close racing among the top 4 or 5 cars. Not to many wrecks either. When they first started running the local late models on the track a few years ago, the local fellas didnt realize the pressure that kind of banking could put on a rear end. We used to see half the field retire do to busted right side axles. I dont think we lost one tonight due to that. Speaking of Bristol..... 7 weeks from tonight! We will be there!

Steve's blog - now isnt that creative!

Okay, first entry. In the last month we have been to Lowes for the All Star Race, then went back the following Friday for the WoO Sprints and Crates. Earlier in the month I saw an absolutely fabulous SLM race at 201 Speedway in Paintsville KY. As I write this, my head is swirling with thoughts of what I have to get ready tomorrow for Eldora! Yes, Tues pm we leave! Wed night: Prelude to the Dream then Friday and Saturday, The Dream! I'll drop in some details next week when I get back. If anybody from this site is going, look me up at the Eldora Village Campground, site 1 in row B-3!
